With the newest version of ITIL, ITIL4®, Three of the concepts were introduced. They are:

· The ITIL service value system

· The service value chain

· Value streams

The overall or top most-level concept is service value system.

The second level is — service value chain refers to activities that lie at the heart of the service value system.

The Third level is — Value streams offer more detailed descriptions of the activities needed to respond to specific types of demand and opportunity.

The topmost level service value system includes everything that is needed to create value in the form of services. It encourages service providers to think about how all the different components needed to deliver services can work together to help co-create value with service consumers.

Below are the SVS areas :

Opportunity / Demand

Opportunities represent options or possibilities to add value for stakeholders or otherwise improve the organization. Demand is the need or desire for products and services that originates from internal and external consumers

Guiding Principles

The ITIL Guiding Principles are recommendations that can guide an organization in all circumstances, regardless of changes in goals, strategies, types of work or management structure.

Governance

The means by which an organization is directed and controlled

Service Value Chain

The service value chain is a set of interconnected activities that an organization performs in order to deliver a valuable product or service to its consumers and to facilitate value realization.

Practices

The ITIL® practices are sets of organizational resources designed for performing work or accomplishing an objective.

Continual Improvement

Continual improvement is a recurring organizational activity performed at all levels to ensure that an organization’s performance is always aligned to changing stakeholder expectations.

Value

The outcome of the SVS is value. The SVS can enable the creation of different types of value for different stakeholders.
